Cisco selects Toronto as latest global innovation centre

Cisco Systems Inc has announced that Toronto will become one of its four Internet of Everything Innovation (IoE) Centres with a planned investment of $100 million over five years. The deal builds on the San Jose CA-based company's agreement with the Province of Ontario to invest $4 billion over 10 years in its operations in Kanata and Toronto. In return, Ontario committed $220 million to support the agreement (R$, December 18/13) — the biggest tech investment in the province's history. The Toronto IoE Centre will be part of a network of centres located in Rio de Janeiro, Songdo South Korea and an as-yet-unnamed city in Germany. IoF refers to refers to machine-to-machine (M2M), person-to-machine (P2M), and person-to-person (P2P) telecommunications gear and associated software. The $100-million investment includes design and infrastructure, technology, staffing and operational costs.
